Personnel Noise Monitoring

Protect your workforce and ensure compliance with occupational noise standards through accurate Personnel Noise Monitoring.

At METS Lab, we offer specialized Personnel Noise Monitoring services to help industries identify and manage employee exposure to hazardous noise levels in the workplace. Using advanced dosimeters and sound level meters, we monitor personal noise exposure in accordance with standards such as OSHA 29 CFR 1910.95, NIOSH, ISO 9612, and local regulations.

What Is Personnel Noise Monitoring?

Personnel Noise Monitoring involves measuring the amount of noise an individual employee is exposed to during a typical work shift. This is done using personal noise dosimeters worn by workers to capture real-time data. Monitoring helps employers determine if sound levels exceed permissible exposure limits (PELs) and if hearing protection programs are needed.

Why It Matters

Exposure to high noise levels can lead to Noise-Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL)—a serious, permanent, and preventable occupational illness. Beyond health impacts, failure to monitor and control workplace noise can result in:

  • Non-compliance with legal requirements
  • Increased liability and penalties
  • Reduced employee productivity and morale
  • Higher workers’ compensation costs

Standards We Follow:

Our personnel noise assessments are conducted in line with national and international standards, including:

  • OSHA 29 CFR 1910.95 – Occupational Noise Exposure
  • NIOSH Recommended Exposure Limits (REL)
  • ISO 9612 – Acoustics: Determination of occupational noise exposure

Our Monitoring Services Include:

  • Full-shift noise dosimetry (8-hour and 12-hour exposures)
  • Task-specific and area-specific noise assessments
  • Comparison with OSHA and NIOSH limits
  • Identification of high-exposure zones and job roles
  • Recommendations for hearing conservation programs
  • Support for noise control engineering and PPE selection.

Industries We Serve:

  • Manufacturing and Assembly Units
  • Heavy Engineering and Fabrication
  • Steel, Cement, and Power Plants
  • Oil & Gas and Chemical Industries
  • Airports, Railways, and Transport Hubs
  • Construction and Mining Sites

Parameters Measured:

  • Time-Weighted Average (TWA)
  • Equivalent Continuous Noise Level (Leq)
  • Peak and Maximum Noise Levels (Lpeak, Lmax)
  • Exposure Dose (%)
  • Octave Band Analysis (if needed)
